Introduction to Reusi Dat Ton

Well-being is the study of body awareness, health and self care. Developed and upheld over thousands of years, Reusi Dat Ton is an unharmed method of personal care, educating practitioners on proper breathing, face massage, joint loosening exercises, stretching postures, and meditation. It stimulates healthy digestion & mental function, anatomical efficiency, while calming the nerves, muscles, and restoring balance to the fluids of the body.
Introduction to Reusi Dat Ton
Our eight week course is an introduction to Reusi Dat Ton, the Thai practice of breath, health, and longevity. The purpose of Reusi Dat Ton is to move and stabilize the winds of the body: circulation, digestion, respiration, mobilization, and mental processing. We will present the system in its whole practice form, which includes traditional offerings, Pāli chanting, the breathing techniques, face massage, joint mobilization, and 31 Reusi Dat Ton postures.
Weekly Videos
Each week there will be a video filled with information covering the mental and physical approaches to the practice, with clarity on tradition, alignment, breathing, balance, and suggestions for modifications surrounding ailment.
Weekly Class
The second component is a weekly class meeting during which we will review the information from the previous video, answer questions, diving even deeper into the practice.
Home Study
Videos will be released a week before each meeting, offering students ample time to practice and review on their own. As RDT is a method which is predominantly practiced solitarily, students will develop the inspiration and motivation for continued daily routine once the class has been completed.
Critique
For the fourth component, students will submit a video of their practice to show progress and alignment in postures, as well as to allow for individual critique from the teacher.
Community
Lastly, it is healthy for all practitioners to establish into a community where they can continue their education and grow. Our structure will establish students’ connection to a teacher who will continue to provide support and assistance after the class concludes, as well as welcoming them into a larger community of practitioners.
The first video will be released one week before our first class meeting. Students must attend one class meeting per week. We are hosting two classes on Mondays in hopes that this meets each student’s availability. Students only have to attend one of those classes. Feel free to attend morning or evening, or both. Feel free to alternate times depending on your schedule, whatever works best for you.
Our RDT Level 1 is cohesive with RDT Level I taught by Somananda Yogi. Those who have studied in his Level I class are welcome to join us for a reduced rate.
